Coppers in corridors

Lulu and I had ordered a pizza last night and were sitting outside the pizza place in our car, waiting for our order to be cooked. A couple of young police officers, a nice looking male and a neat little female, walked past, both wearing bullet-proof vests. They walked down the dark corridor between the shops... to the toilets. The not-very-nice-and-clean toilets.

“They're going to hold each other's hand while they go,” said Lulu.

“It doesn't make sense. Why would they use these toilets when the police station is so close by,” I said.

“Maybe they're having a fling,” Lulu said.

“Shitty place to have sex,” I said. “A crappy toilet block.”

We sat in the car staring down the corridor.

They were in there for ages.

“Maybe you're right,” I said. “It doesn't take that long to have a wee.”

“We should call the police and say there's le bemb in the toilets,” Lulu said. “They'll come out with their pants around their ankles.”

“No, they won't. They'll respond to the call on their walkie-talkies with '10-4, base. We'll handle that situation,” I said.

More time passed.

Lulu and I were in disbelief. We kept staring down the corridor and then looking back at each and pulling silly faces with raised eyebrows and pursed lips. There is no exit on the other side of the toilets. They had to come out eventually. We made jokes about how flushed they would look when they finally came out.

Finally, dark shadows appeared at the end of the corridor and as they came closer we could see that ... there were now three people! The two police officers and a homeless man carrying some cardboard! They sternly made him throw away the cardboard and move on.

Now, right here is a lesson in assuming. It made an ass out of both of us. Good thing we were in the car, because the sound of our hysterical laughter was nicely muffled until the police car left and WE composed ourselves enough to go and collect our pizza.
